ABOUT PETER
Peter Sekirin received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Toronto in 2000. Peter is the author of several history books and biographies, and the English translator of Chekhov's and Tolstoy's major works, published for the first time in English.
Peter signed major deals with several trade publishers:
"Divine and Human" by L. Tolstoy with editor Dave Lambert at Zondervan - Harper Collins in 2000.
"Wise Thoughts on God and Love" by L. Tolstoy with editor Cal Barksdale at Arcade - Hachette in 2007.
"Stories of Crime and Suspense" by A. Chekhov with editor Jessica Case at Pegasus Books in 2010.
"Calendar of Wisdom" by L. Tolstoy with editor Susan Moldow at Scribner - Simon and Schuster in 1997, Second reprint in 2012.
"Everyday Thoughts of Wise Men" by L. Tolstoy (Skyhorse, 2015 offer recieved, publication pending)
"Wise Thoughts", "Mamories" and "Calendar" have over 250,000 hardcover copies sold, and have been translated into 7 languages in 2001-2017: German, Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Simplified, Malaysian, Korean, and Turkish (2017).
Peter is the author of three historycal biographies: "Memories of Chekhov" (2011), "Americans in Conversation with Tolstoy" (2005) a collection of essays, and "Dostoevsky Archive" (2013), a biography of one the world's best novelists. These books have been published in the US by McFarland, in UK by Hodder and Stoughton and in Australia by Sydney University Press.
Peter has written numerous articles for Linguistics, American Speech, and History of Literature. He worked for eight years as Research Associate at CREES Research Center at the University of Toronto. He resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two children.
